If you have tech skills, you’d be wise to look for a job in the hedge fund industry, reports a recent survey by the Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association.
Average salaries for IT staff at hedge funds were more than double that for other financial institutions. Hedge Fund IT senior management averaged $192,029 versus $94,261 for retail banks, for example. What’s more, hedge fund execs with senior level IT experience easily outstripped their peers in other industries, too, including software sales, data vendors and consulting.
The average salary for a senior IT manager (director, VP, manager) at a hedge fund was $223,543. You can read the entire 2008-2009 survey at SIIA’s website.
